Clarification

I have read a couple of news stories about the investigation into the bone fragment, and I just want to say that I am really disturbed by the way some of them have characterized my reaction. One said I was "encouraged," which is absolutely not a word I would choose to describe how I feel. Others have said I was "hopeful." That is a word that could perhaps be used, but not by itself. Hopeful of what? Of a resolution, of finding the truth, or not having to keep doing this over and over and over again? Perhaps. But it absolutely requires a modifier.

I also want to let you know that my understanding is that the mitochondrial DNA tests have not begun. Hopefully we will have an idea of the time frame in the near future.

There is more I want to say, but I'm just too tired tonight.

Thanks.

  1. Sigh - Can't they simply refer their readers to your blog? Its such a delicate matter, it wouldn't be right to shorten it, modify or censor it...

I'm sorry your words have been twisted in the news. I have read a few myself where I thought....doesn't sound like the Sharon I've come to know. You are in so many peoples thoughts and prayers, and most of all....Michaela is. We know how you really feel about what you are going through. Stay strong!

  4. Sharon,

It's funny you posted this, because when I read the news article and I read that very part that said you were encouraged, it didn't sound like a good way to describe you. I have only commented on your blog once or twice, but I read your blogs, and have been checking in everyday to see if there are any developments. You have shared so much of your heart with us, and this really didn't sound like you in the article. Besides, any mother here would agree that "encouraged" and "hopeful" don't really seem like appropriate words to describe what you must be feeling in this situation. At any rate, I think those of us that read your blog have gotten to understand you quite well, and didn't need the clarification. :) I think of you and your precious girl everyday. Just like everyone here, I'm saying many prayers for peace and closure to finally come your way - whether it be with the outcome of these DNA tests, or something else very soon. Prayers, good thoughts and hugs sent your way.

  5. What the heck are they waiting for? They know how important it is to you. It might just be another day at work for them but this may be your baby. It is just wrong to make you wait longer.

    1. Well, we just have to trust that things happen as they are supposed to, in their own way and their own time. I think perhaps I'm not really pushing it because a part of me probably dreads getting the answer.

  7. Do you ever find it strange that many of us are always checking for news on the bone thing that's happening? I have been reading this for little over a year like a book nightly. I hope it's not her. <3

    1. Well I hope it's not strange that you keep checking the blog for news. It just means you care, and I think that is a wonderful thing.

  8. I would hope that no "normal" person is going to think you are Hopeful or encouraged, at the thought your daughter might have been murdered. (regardless of the way the press chooses to word an article)I think the majority of people understand you are only hopeful to finally know the truth as that can not be changed. The people who matter know where your heart is!

The last thing you should be having to do right now is defend yourself and im very sorry you felt you had to.

  12. I remember reading back somewhere that Loren herzog commuted suicide by hanging himself shortly after he got out of jail. I did wonder why since he was a freeman now but then a while later there was mentioning of his partner saying "I don't know anything about that Hayward girl" and what stuck out was the word "that". I know we don't have answers yet but if IF Loren did do it I bet Michaela was one of his victims he actually regretted murdering. I bet not a day went by where he did not think of her. Yes he's an evil POS but sometimes they do have that one victim they cannot erase from their mind. "that Hayward girl" just stick in my mind. I bet he killed himself because of rotten memories he could not escape.

    1. That's very nice, anonymous, but I'm guessing Herzog hanged himself because he knew he was going back to jail and possibly to join Shermantine on death row.

    2. He killed himself because he is a big coward! People like him don't have regrets. They just want the easy way out.

  13. Sharon, I think Shemantine was involved in this because if Herzog did this he threw her in the car and Shermantine pinned her down that how she didn't go out threw the other door. And he wants to let this out, and blame Herzog for it, and take payments for it, && possibly getting paroled from Death row.

    1. Regardless of what happened,Shermantine and Herzog will die and no one will care because they were monsters who preyed on the innocent. Michaela shines through in the hearts and minds of people who have never met her. And her sweet legacy lives on. We can all hope to be thought of as such. God bless you and your family,Sharon.

  14. Whats extremely sad is Loren Herzog had daughters, and yet he was able to do these horrible things. Whats also sad is his wife still defends him (someone should check her palm print)

Sheriff Moore said in a press conference that he has no regrets about the way he went about retrieving the remains of victims and would do it the same way again..........the world has gone crazy!

    1. I didn't know all that about Herzog. Where did you find that information? And the sheriff is covering his a** at this point. I'm sure he knows that he has done some very bad, unforgiveable, and actionable things in this.

  15. When i can get to my home computer i will find a link where his wife Christina "sugar" Herzog attacked members of their victims families. This was after her husband admitted going along with Shermantine on at least 3. Murders.
They listed Herzog in one article as being 6' 5" and around 200 pounds. One woman told a story of being chased by a man that she is sure was Loren Herzog, along a highway after her car broke down. She was able to get away. I find it hard to believe that he was scared of shermantine.

  18. Just curious if the bone results are going to be 100 percent for sure? I find it really weird it's near her missing anniversary!

    1. That's what they told me, 100 percent. Yes I find it to be one of those strangely synchronous events as well. No guarantee we will have the results before then either it seems. Last I heard the lab had not even started the testing.

I think I had a dream about the anniversary last night, but I can't remember the details.
