Happy Birthday, my sweet girl, wherever you are. On January 24, 1979, you came into this world and changed my life forever. One thing I can tell you for certain, and that is that there has never in the history of the world ever been a baby who was wanted more than you were. For years before you were born I had dreamed of you and longed for you, but even the sweetest dream I could ever have dreamed was nothing compared to the reality of you. I wanted to hold you and never put you down. I loved every part of taking care of you, even changing diapers!
And as you grew, I just came to love you more and more, your sweet, sweet spirit, the golden light your presence shed on the world around you. You were a blessing. You ARE a blessing, and will never be, could never be, anything else. As you showed me the light and beauty in the world, you also showed me the darkest corners of the heart. But I would not give up the joy of having you for anything.
For all our yesterdays, for today, for tomorrow ... I love you. Nothing will ever change that.
Today, people all around the world will be celebrating your life by each releasing one balloon, in a variety of colors because I know how much you loved rainbows, all throughout the day so there will be hopes and prayers going up for you not at one moment but all day long. Wherever you are, I hope you can feel the love ... my love, and the love of the world for you.
God bless you, baby girl. I love you forever. I like you for always.
