Michaela, I will always be thankful for you

Michaela, wherever you are, in heaven or on earth, on this Thanksgiving I am thankful for you. You are my first child and you taught me the real meaning of love, which is based in the being of another person, and not how they behave or what they do for you (even though you behaved beautifully and were the epitome of kindness and love). In your birth, and again in your loss, you taught me this. If I could go back and do it all over again, to choose to have those years with you or not, I would always choose you.

Whatever our fates in this life, our greatest fate was to love each other. That will never die, not here on this earth, no matter what powers may try to destroy it, and not in heaven.

My heart is forever yours.

I love you, Michaela.

  1. Im at a loss for words. So many emotions intertwined with words. My heart hurts as i cannot fathome your experience. Or begin to even know ur pain. Know that there are people out here that admire ur strength and look up to u for courage to keep going...may your heart mind and soul find the comfort you seek.

  3. Sharon, your beautiful daughter has not been forgotten. And I pray for mercy and compassion for her, you, and your family to endure the days ahead.

Sharon, many times when I read about events like this I feel helpless (and hopeless too) about what my contribution can be to help. I know it is just a drop in the bucket...but is there a certain organization that focuses on kidnapped children that you personally feel is respectable and passionate about that cause?
I have heard about the Klass foundation and then there is the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. I think I remember reading from one of your posts that certain foundations are better than others. I know my contribution wouldn't be very much, but I don't want it to go somewhere where it's just spent on overhead.

    1. Thanks. I would not send it to the National Center. They receive millions of dollars in government funding and just don't seem to do much with it. I don't know all the details, but Marc Klass has a foundation called Klass Kids, and I know that when a child is kidnapped Marc will be there in person, with a team, and will help with the actual work, like setting up searches, etc. You can find their website at http://klaaskids.org/ Thanks so much for wanting to help these kids!
